About Ableton

Ableton was founded in 1999 and the first version of Ableton Live was introduced to the market in late 2001. Live is a professional loop based music sequencer for MAC OS and PC Windows. Unlike other software sequencers Live is designed around the notion of being as much an instrument for live performances and a tool for the studio (or project studio) for recording, composing, editing and arranging your music. It's also often used a Remix tool of tracks by DJ's because it works really fast and easy. Ableton?Live has introduced a new approach to making music with computers on stage and in the studio that some call revolutionary. Live has received outstanding feedback from the international press and artists. There are now several hundred thousand Live users worldwide and the number is growing every day ~ every hour!?Ableton has their main head quarter in Berlin and their own office in New York City.

Artist Quotes:

"Live has been a godsend and has completely changed the way the band, Garbage, writes...It is now an integral part of our pre-production and writing process. Live's flexibility allows us to make decisions at any time regarding the tempo and key of the song, without having to go back and re-cut the track."

Billy Bush, Garbage

"As a composer, I think Ableton Live has to be the software that has given me the most immediate way to write new things on a computer, rather than tape."

Pete Townshend, Interview in EQ magazine, August 2007

"Ableton is the shit; they saved my life. Now they have created the industry standard in live electronic music performance. Hats off!"

Telefon Tel Aviv

"I use Live anywhere, anyhow. I use it on my laptop as a notepad for remembering and experimenting with musical ideas, and as a personal-computer game?because I have more fun with it than most video games...Live is one of the most transparent and creative softwares I have ever used. The whole process is easy, simple and fun, yet with accessible sophistication and professional results."

Thomas Bangalter, Daft Punk
